Headmaster

Steve O’Neil

Headmaster O’Neil was born and raised in upstate New York. When he was 9, his family moved to Florida, which is where he calls home.  Headmaster O’Neil attended a boarding school in Asheville, North Carolina for high school and is a graduate of Wheaton College with a bachelors degree in History and the a Masters degree in School Administration from University of Colorado.

Headmaster O‘Neil began his career as a teacher in Colorado, but always was prayerful that God might have him and his wife serve overseas based on some volunteer work during his college years. A move to Minneapolis, Minnesota occurred after he secured an administrative position at Minnehaha Academy. While he served as Upper School Principal there, he continued to feel the Lord’s pull to go abroad and began to look at what opportunities were available in international Christian schools.

He became the Director of Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The O’Neil’s time there was wonderful and very rewarding, and as their 3 year mark approached, they again found themselves asking God where they should go next. They felt a call to return to a Christian school in the United States. They chose to make Westminster Schools of Augusta their new home.

“Westminster’s greatest strength is its people. We have exceptional faculty, staff, and administration. Also, the parents and the students are a great strength, as are the board of trustees,” he shared. Headmaster O’Neil strongly values the relationships that he builds with the Westminster community and has relied on them as he and the Board of Trustees steer the vision and core values of the school.
