Essay Competitions & Selected Scholarships
Westminster receives information from various companies and organizations that offer scholarships and grants. There also are opportunities to receive money for participation in the essay programs listed below. ESSAY INFORMATION
John F. Kennedy: Profile in Courage
Amount: up to $8,500
Open to students in grades 9-12
Deadline: January 10
The League
The LEAGUE will be awarding three (3) scholarships. The Knight Scholarship is a national scholarship competition where students write on civic responsibility.
Amount: Up to $5,000
Open to high school seniors
Deadline: March 1
Veterans of Foreign Wars
Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition
Amount: $1,000 – $30,000
Open to students in grades 9-12
Deadline: November 1

Thomas Wolfe Scholarship (UNC)
Seeks students in grade 12 “with exceptionally focused literary ability and promise.”
Amount: undergraduate support at UNC

Watson-Brown Foundation
Foundation based locally in Thomson, GA
Open to students in grade 12 with scholarships awarded based on academic scholarship and financial need.
Amount: $3,000 – $5,000
Deadline: February 15
