11th Grade College Preparation

 

SAT I is SAT Reasoning Test.  SAT II is SAT Subject Tests.

SEPTEMBER

  • Update brag sheet
  • CSRA College Night at James Brown Arena
  • Register for SAT prep course if interested
  • Attend sessions with college representatives who visit Westminster

OCTOBER

  • PSAT
  • Attend sessions with college representatives who visit Westminster

NOVEMBER

  • Research college choices
  • Focus on doing well in all your classes.  Junior and senior year grades are often considered more heavily than freshman and sophomore grades in the college admission process.

DECEMBER

  • PSAT scores mailed
  • Register for January SAT I or SAT II

JANUARY

  • SAT I
  • Register for February ACT

FEBRUARY

  • Use your PSAT scores and GPA to determine your academic qualifications.  Begin to match these with the admissions statistics for various colleges.

MARCH

  • Register for April ACT
  • Register for May SAT I or SAT II

APRIL

  • ACT
  • SAT I
  • Register for May and June SAT I and SAT II
  • Continue to gather information about colleges you are considering.
  • Visit colleges during spring break.

MAY

  • AP exams
  • SAT I or SAT II
  • Register for June SAT I or SAT II
  • Register for June ACT

JUNE

  • Take SAT IIs that correspond to your junior year courses (foreign language, history, science).
  • Plan college visits over the summer.
  • Register with the NCAA Clearinghouse if applicable.

SUMMER

  • Visit college campuses in which you are interested.  If you wait until your senior year begins to visit colleges, you have waited too long.
