Parents of each student accepted into Westminster's kindergarten program will receive a letter inquiring whether they would like to have their child considered for admission to Kinder Cubs. Kinder Cubs is an optional enrichment program in science, social studies, literature, oral discussion, hands-on activities, and creative thinking. This program is offered only to students who demonstrate a developmental readiness compatible with a longer day, taking lunch on their own, and sustained attention in class.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR KINDER CUBS
- Admission to Westminster's kindergarten program without reservations or mitigating factors
- Performance on the Gesell Developmental Observation, which gives information concerning a child's developmental readiness for sustained attention and an extended day
- Performance in our PreK/TK or at the child's previous school with a supporting teacher recommendation
Once a student is accepted into Kinder Cubs, parents will be notified by a letter and the appropriate charges will be reflected on the first billing cycle. Qualified students are placed in Kinder Cubs on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the class is full (20 students), a waiting list is composed.
