Athletics Update

December 12, 2014

  • Printable schedules may be found on the specific sports’ pages. Start here and then select the sport for which you would like more information. You may also view upcoming athletic events on our online calendar.
  • Also under the Athletics tab, you will find Directions to Opponents, a valuable tool to use as you travel to away contests.
  • Visit the Our Coaching Staff page, which will provide a list of all of our coaches for each sport at each level. This page is designed to make it easy for you to determine who our coaches are and how to contact them.

  • Visit the Athletics blog for updates on team/meet results.
  • Congratulations to our JV and varsity swim teams for an outstanding showing at the Gatewood meet on Dec. 5! The varsity girls took first, varsity boys and JV girls placed third, and the JV boys finished fourth.
  • Screen Shot 2014-12-10 at 12.54.44 PMCongratulations also to our varsity girls basketball team for winning the Garden City Classic tournament at Augusta Prep last weekend. Way to go, Lady ‘Cats!

The varsity basketball teams compete in the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons this weekend (Dec. 12–13). They will play next weekend (Dec. 19-20) in a tournament at Monsignor Donovan in Athens.

Mark your calendar now for the annual Alumni vs. Faculty/Staff basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 3. Our faculty and staff will take on our alumni in this fun annual event! Don’t miss the excitement during halftime (approximately 6:45 p.m.) of the boys varsity game.

On Thursday, Jan. 15, our Middle School basketball teams play at EDS. EDS is sponsoring a “Pajama Jam” in support of the patients at the Joseph M. Still Burn Center. The Burn Center is in need of new pajamas (both kid and adult sizes) as well baby blankets. If you would like to participate, please bring a set of new pajamas or a new baby blanket, and your family (up to four people) will get into the game for free! If you choose not to participate, regular admission rates will apply.

Friday, Jan. 16 will be Lower School Night at the varsity basketball games. Don’t miss the opportunity to see our teams take on Westfield, a tough region opponent. The first 40 Westminster Lower School students in attendance will receive a free blue Westminster basketball T-shirt! (As always, there is no admission charge for Westminster students to attend Westminster athletic events.) After passing the gate table, each Lower School student should check in at the T-shirt table by providing his or her name and homeroom teacher to get a free T-shirt. The homeroom with the largest percentage of students attending will receive a prize!

Spirit wear will be available for sale at all home basketball games. Purchase your new spirit wear now and enjoy showing your Wildcat pride all year. New items are arriving frequently!

On Dec. 12, our spirit wear will be on sale during school hours: Spirit Wear Sales | Morning and Lunchtime
