Welcome to the home of the 2000, 2001, 2004, and 2006 GISA Boys State Champions and the 2009 GISA Girls State Champions!
Westminster prides itself on a tradition of excellence and commitment to athletics. The Wildcats compete in the Georgia Independent Schools Association and are members of Region 4AAA.
In addition to winning the 2000, 2001, 2004, and 2006 boys state championships and the 2009 girls state championship, the boys and girls programs boast 21 region championships since 1990. The Wildcats have been regionally ranked by the NSCAA in 2000 (10th), 2001 (7th), 2006 (5th), and 2008 (14th).
*Congratulations to current WSA players Will McCartney, Aaron Harris and Michael Bone for their selection to the GISA All-State team. In addition, McCartney, Harris, Bone, Josh Coleman and Robert MacDonnell were named to the GISA 1AAA All-Region Team.

Mike Freace - Boys and Girls
Head Coach
Coach
Freace is in his ninth year at Westminster, during which he has compiled
an impressive coaching record of 258-68-30, over 15 Region
championships, and led Westminster to the State championships in 2000,
2006, and 2009. For his efforts, he was named “GISA Coach of the Year”
in 2000, 2006 and 2009, “The Augusta Chronicle Girls Coach of the Year”
in 2006 and 2009 and “Region Coach of the Year” 14 times.
In addition to his responsibilities in athletics,
Coach Freace also oversees the
Student Leadership Team. He is
passionate about leadership and teaches a Christian Leadership class for
high school students.
Originally
from Rochester, NY, Coach Freace attended Houghton College, where he
played for the Highlanders from 1993-97. During that time, Houghton won
three Keystone Empire Conference championships and three Region IX
championships, while qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament each
time.
From
2001-05, Coach Freace served as mens assistant soccer coach at Roberts
Wesleyan College. During this time, Roberts compiled a record of
59-22-7 and attended two national tournaments. In addition to his
coaching duties at the college, he served as a member of the New York
State West Olympic Development Program Coaching Staff from 2002-03.
Coach
Freace holds an Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America. In addition, he has a Master of Science
in Organizational Management from Roberts Wesleyan College and a
Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Houghton College.
Coach Freace is married to Claire and has a
daughter Madeleine, and two sons Sean and Jack.
Chris Hitchcock- Boys Varsity Assistant Coach and
MS Head Coach
Coach Hitchcock enters his third season as assistant varsity coach and
second as middle school head coach at Westminster. He has coached
multiple area teams including club teams at the Augusta Arsenal Soccer
Club. In addition, he was an assistant coach at Lakeside High School for
two years and at Covenant College for one year.
As a player, Chris played collegiately at Covenant College winning three
conference championships. His senior year he was an NAIA All-America.
After Covenant, Coach Hitchcock spent time playing for the Chattanooga
Railroaders. Chris also played at Lakeside High School for four years.
Chris graduated from Covenant with a BA in Biblical Studies and minor in
Youth Ministries. He is currently the co-owner of The Hitch-N-Post with
fellow WSA coach Rob Wood.
Chris is married to Westminster Alum Kelly Watts
Hitchcock and is the father to four boys: Michael (11), Will (9), John
Reid (6), and Watts (2).
Will Boyd - Boys Varsity Assistant Coach
Will Boyd enters his second season as assistant head coach at
Westminster. A 2003 graduate of WSA, Will played collegiately for
Presbyterian College for three years and Mars Hill College for one year.
Coach Boyd was a member of the 2000 and 2001 state
championship and 2000-2003 region championship teams at Westminster. His
senior season, he was one of the leading scorers in the state (22 goals)
and served as team captain. During his four year career at WSA, the team
had a combined 68-14-6 record.
Will is currently enrolled at the Medical College
of Georgia pursuing a degree in the dental field.
He is married to Catie Pursley Boyd.
