Spiritual Formation

At Westminster, we desire “to equip and empower students through programs, mentorships and curriculum to experience God and enact their faith… to seek Jesus, follow His lead and take risks based on His calling and purpose.”

Spiritual Formation events at the school are special times for all who attend and are focused on making sure that our students understand who God is, how much He loves them and what that means in light of their relationship with Him and glorifying Him. See You at the Pole, SLEW (Spiritual Life Emphasis Week), weekly chapel services and Winterim are all examples of events that occur throughout the academic year that promote the spiritual life of our faculty, staff and students. Our schools conduct chapels on the following days:

  • Lower School – Fridays
  • Middle School – Wednesdays
  • Upper School – Mondays

Middle & Upper School Chapel

Students are leading worship, speaking, introducing speakers and praying during the chapel service. They also plan what is addressed and make suggestions of who will address it. “I want to make sure students are engaged in chapel and the best way to do that is to let them lead,” Spiritual Life Director Mike Freace said. “The students know better than anyone the areas of hard-heartedness in themselves and their peers.” There is a Middle and  Upper School Chapel Band – each is comprised of students. They pick the worship songs each week and practice them prior to the Monday service.

Lower School Chapel

Each week, our Pre-K through fifth-grade students participate and worship in a chapel service. Mrs. Sara Lawson leads them in singing a few praise choruses, followed by a guest speaker. While sometimes the speakers are from the Westminster community, at other times, people from various ministries visit to share about Christ.
