GOAL Matching Gifts

Matching Gift GraphicGift matching is a way for a taxpayer to increase the value of their GOAL contribution, doubling or sometimes tripling the gift.

Many companies match the charitable contribution of their workforce to support causes that are important to their employees. Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and therefore qualifies as an organization that can receive corporate matching funds.

In the cases of matching gifts to GOAL, there is no tax credit being received by the corporate donor, so the matching gifts do not consume the cap on available tax credits.

Taxpayers should ask their human resources department or community relations office to find out if their employer has a matching gift policy. If so, the company will provide the employee with the necessary forms to initiate the match. When the employee has completed the relevant section of the forms, they should submit the paperwork to GOAL at so that the process can be completed.

Important Note: unless instructed otherwise by a taxpayer, GOAL will ensure that matching gifts are designated for the same school as the original GOAL contribution.
