Sarah Bruce, Third Grade

sarah bruceMrs. Bruce and her family recently relocated from Oklahoma City. She says it is an absolute God story of how they ended up here. Originally from upstate New York, she has a BA in Education from Southwestern Assembly of God University and is currently finishing a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Kansas. Her two kids, McKinley and Beckett, have enrolled in second grade and Kindergarten, respectively. She is looking forward to working in a school that honors God and puts God first.

Alyssa Beck, Lower School Art

Miss Beck has a BFA in Studio Art from Bob Jones University and has been teaching K-12 art at Curtis Baptist School. A native of Augusta, she loves it here and is proud to call it home. She enjoys creating beautiful pieces of art with her students and often gets inspiration for her own artwork from them. She was recently commissioned by the Greater Augusta Arts Council to paint murals on two traffic control boxes. If you’re interested in enjoying some Augusta-inspired art, take a look at her murals on the corner of Boy Scout and Skinner Mill and the corner of RA Dent and Laney Walker.

Tara Boname, Assistant to Lower School Principal

Originally from North Carolina, Mrs. Boname has traveled and lived in many places including Germany, and for the past six years, Augusta, due to her husband’s work in the military. Before starting at Westminster, she has been busy at home with her three boys, Ian (8) and Owen (4), and family dog, Dash (2). Mrs. Boname has a degree in business administration from Elon University and worked there briefly before staying at home to raise her family. She is looking forward to working in a friendly, Christian environment and taking on new challenges.

Jackie Hernandez '94, Lower School Receptionist

Mrs. Hernandez is a familiar face as she frequently volunteers in the Lower and Middle Schools and regularly takes photos at various events. A native of Augusta and a member of Westminster's Class of 1994, she has two kids, Christopher and Caroline, who are both students at Westminster. She is very involved at her church, Warren Baptist, and serves as a Sunday School teacher for their Children’s Ministry. She will be the voice and face at the reception desk from 8a to 2p daily.

Jenny Mojica, MS Academic Support Coach

Mrs. Mojica has a BA in Anthropology from the University of West Florida, and an MA in Education from Ashford University. Having been raised in a military family, she has lived all over the world. Bilingual in Spanish and English, she has several years of teaching experience including working as an ESOL teacher with all ages and as a second grade teacher. She and her family relocated from Denver to the Augusta area only a few years ago where she has taught homeschooled students and, more recently, at Curtis Baptist School. She and her husband have three children, one at Evans Middle School and two at Evans High School.

Charlene Preg, LS Academic Support Coordinator, US Bible Teacher

Before coming to Westminster, Mrs. Preg lived in Atlanta for over 30 years, six of those working in academic support at Providence Christian Academy. She only recently relocated from Prague, where she worked at a Christian school for two years. Originally from Ft. Lauderdale, a new chapter in Mrs. Preg's life includes living in North Augusta with her 86-year-old mom. She has three grown children and loves to read, travel, and run half-marathons. Mrs. Preg received both her undergraduate degree and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Covenant College.

Christine Hammond, MS English and Bible

Miss Hammond is a recent graduate of Georgia College. When asked what led her to Augusta and Westminster, she said she was drawn to Westminster by our mission statement. She is very passionate about combining her love for literature with 1 Corinthians 10:31, "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Originally from Griffin, Georgia, she lives with three Christian roommates and has made First Presbyterian her home church. She loves working with middle schoolers and got hooked during an internship working in a 7th grade classroom.  

Kathryn Bergeron, MS and US Math

A graduate of Augusta University with a BS in Middle Grades Education, Mrs. Bergeron has most recently been teaching 7th grade math in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Prior to that, she taught 6th grade science and social studies in Grovetown. Mrs. Bergeron is currently working on a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia Southern University and expects to finish in December.

Megan Welch, Communications Coordinator

Mrs. Welch graduated in 2016 from Wake Forest University with a BA in Communications. She is a newlywed and recently moved to Augusta with her husband. She most recently worked at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta as a sales associate. Mrs. Welch will be coordinating Wildcat Scratch and Windows Magazine, and will assist with social media and our website.

Wes Brown, Director of Development

Please welcome Wesley Brown who will join the Westminster family this year as the Director of Development. He has a B.A. in mass communication from Georgia College and State University and most recently served as the district executive for the Boy Scouts of America where he led successful fundraising and marketing campaigns, as well as collaborated with teams of volunteers. Wes has also held a number of positions in Georgia and North Carolina as a journalist over his 10-year professional career. He is the product of a strong Christian, college-preparatory school in Atlanta and brings with him award-winning writing and communication skills in addition to strong marketing and advancement experience. Wes and his wife Jessica, who is from Augusta, are the proud parents of 2-year-old Evelyn and are expecting their second child in January.
