Hurricane Irma UPDATE!
Friday, September 8
We are continuing to monitor forecasts for Hurricane Irma for our area and are in close consultation with area emergency officials and other local schools. It looks like she’s tracking west of us, so we may just see tropical storm conditions by Monday afternoon. Stay tuned this weekend for more information about a a decision regarding a potential school closing. In the event of such a decision, we will notify you via email, text messaging, area media outlets, on our school website, and on our various social media accounts.
Wednesday, September 6
Please be advised that we are currently monitoring weather reports and frequent updates from local officials about Hurricane Irma. At this time, we do not have enough information to make any decisions about changes to our schedule next week. We will do our best to inform you in as timely a manner as possible should the storm cause any interruptions here at Westminster.
In the event that school is delayed, closed, or released early, we will contact families by text message and email through our emergency notification system using the primary and secondary email and phone numbers each family has provided for us.
In addition, we will also post the information
- here on this page
- With local media outlets (television, radio and media websites)
- On Facebook (Willie Wildcat and Westminster Schools of Augusta)
- On Twitter (@Williewildcat)
If there are any changes to the regular schedule, we plan to make an official announcement by 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 10. As always, the safety of our Westminster community is of utmost importance when making this kind of decision.
Let’s pray that Irma gets blown out to sea before she causes too much damage!
